A Warning to Humanity or Happy Halloween

Back in October 2022, I wrote once more a tiny short story for Renderosity’s annual Halloween Contest, which was, as it appears now, the last one, especially for writers. That year’s theme was A Hallowed Tale, and I wrote about the scholar and scribe Magnus Leander, penning a dire warning to Humanity.

If you are curious and want to know why he wrote this warning, download the PDF – either in English or German – and have fun reading.

Happy Halloween!

Sincerely yours,

Winter Celebration Time

I have neglected this site this year, but it depressed me coming here, and my year was not good so far. However, seeing now the desolate state here saddens me even more.

I will try to write an Activity Report at the end of the year, giving you the gist of what was going on and what troubled me.

However, on this second Advent Sunday, let me present two stories I have written for Renderosity’s last two annual Holiday contests.

The first story is called The Long Silent Night. This story made second place in Renderosity’s 2020 Writers Holiday Contest.

The second one is called The Annual Winter Fair of Elves, Gnomes, and Dwarves. This story made first place in Renderosity’s 2021 Writers Holiday Contest.

Both stories have a Christmas theme with my distinctive personal tint, so do not expect something your conservative church-going granny would approve of, while your inner child will — and maybe your children also.

I hope those stories will cast a smile on your face and fill your heart with a bit of the Inner Peace Xmas — stripped bare of all religious nonsense — should bring to you and your loved ones.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros

“Return of the Witches” added to Stories Page

Last weekend, I finally found the time to make the final changes to the German version of my Costumes, Cauldrons & Concoctions contest story Return of the Witches, with which I made the first place at Renderosity’s Annual Halloween contest last year.

I had to do this long-neglected task, as I needed to apply the last-minute changes that I had done to shorten the English text under the 1.000 words limit. Otherwise, the German and the English versions would have been slightly different.

Meanwhile, I have uploaded both language versions and incorporated them into my stories page.

While I know that this year’s Halloween is still far away, I hope you will nonetheless enjoy this creepy little story about wicked witches.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros

Dreams of Peace – Renderosity’s 2020 Holiday Contest

Recently, I contributed to this year’s Renderosity Holiday Contest, like last year. The votings have already started: Dreams of Peace – Renderosity’s 2020 Holiday Contest

As the contest is anonymous, I think I am not allowed to declare which contributions are from me.

I can only tell you that I participated in the writers and the 3D art contest.

However, you need a Renderosity account to be able to see the entries and vote for them. But if you happen to have one, take a look at all the entries and vote for the ones you like the most.

Hopefully, my works will be among the ones you like most.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros

Contest story “Circle of Life“ submitted

I just submitted my entry for Renderosity’s annual Holiday Contest.

The theme for this year’s contest is Lost Holiday Toys.

As you know, I wrote this week a sweet little story for it and did yesterday a thumbnail image for the entry.

I named the story “Circle of Life,” and the word count is 993.

To not spoil your reading experience, I will not tell you anything about it in advance, so just take a look at it and the other entries.

All I can hope for is that you like my story enough to vote for me as soon as voting starts on December 19 at 10:00 am CT.

In any case, you deserve my thanks already for just reading it, and as usual, you are free to contact me about anything you want to tell me.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros

Working on another writing contest story – Update

Yesterday, as planned, I finished the translation of the new contest story, remaining shortly under one thousand words. I also managed the first run of proofreading too.

I have given the story for additional proofreading to my two muses; the English one to Farra Triss and the German one to my girlfriend.

I expect both of them to finish tomorrow.

Normally, I am game-mastering every second Friday our roleplaying evening; however, tomorrow evening, it might be called off.
If that happens, I will make the final changes after my regular office day and submit the story at the contest.
If I am out tomorrow to harass my players with monsters and villains, I will do it on Saturday.

This time it is allowed to do promotion; therefore, I will tell you more as soon as I have submitted my story at the contest.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros

Working on another writing contest story

The last two evenings, I wrote a short little story for a contest. In fact, I only spent Monday evening on it, while yesterday, I did the proofreading and made some minor adjustments.

Naturally, I wrote the story, which still has no name, in my native language. At the moment, it counts 998 words in German.

This evening I will translate the story into English.

Wish me luck that I will still be under the allowed word count of one thousand words after finishing the translation. If I exceed it, I need to rephrase a bit; if I am far under the word count, I have already some passages I would like to add.

Aside of that word count issue, I expect to finish the story tomorrow evening with proofreading.

I will keep you informed.

Sincerely yours,
AbyssalEros
